Why Mentor
Be a Mentor?
You may question whether you can be a mentor - well the answer is YES. There are many different kinds of young people needing mentors and there are also many different types of mentors, so any caring and talented person can fit the definition. Mentoring can be as simple as a one-time visit in a group setting, or it can be a dedicated long-term one-on-one relationship, or anything in between these ends of the mentoring continuum. Whatever your interests, talents, knowledge, availability, or ability to commit may be, there is a great mentoring match for you among the myriad types of mentoring groups and opportunities.

Do I Need?
Mentors are adults interested in helping kids succeed. Sometimes that's as simple as being a good listener. Other times it may be sharing your experience as an adult or from when you were growing up. If you're a relative of a child you've probably already proven you have what it takes. If you don't have children but wish to, what better way to get some experience and practice.
Time Commitment?
There are numerous opportunities available. We have one-time events, fixed time commitment mentoring, or ongoing mentoring. You can start with as little as a couple hours or a few hours a month.

Skills Required?
Each opportunity is different, and MentoringForGood helps to match you with opportunities which match your interests and availability. Having the ability to listen to a child, and respond in a caring manner is really all it takes for many of the opportunities available. But if you have specific skills or gifts, put those to good use with a targeted mentoring opportunity that matches your strengths.
