Success Stories

RJ was brought into the foster care system with his siblings as their mother had mental health and substance abuse issues rendering her unable to care for them. RJ changed foster placements five times in two years, was separated from his siblings, and lost focus of his goals and academics. RJ was matched with his CASA advocate, Dennis, at age 16. Dennis knew he had to show RJ that he was committed and supportive of his success. He consistently engaged RJ in fun and skill-building outings, stayed connected with RJ’s education team and empowered him to hold himself accountable for his actions. With Dennis’ consistent support, over the past two years RJ has raised his GPA from 0.14 to a 2.4 and is now on his way to graduating with his original class.
