Success Stories

Larissa was raised by a mother with a long history of drug use, domestic violence and sexual abuse. Her mother often left her and her younger siblings alone for long periods of time, forcing Larissa to act as the parent. Her mother moved their family all over Orange County, staying in motels and even a storage unit. Due to this unstable situation, Larissa missed a fair amount of school, falling behind in credits before entering foster care and being referred to CASA Orange County. Larissa’s CASA advocate has seen her through several placements and has helped her focus in school, look forward to the future, and navigate difficult family situations. With the assistance of another CASA advocate with expertise in college admissions, Larissa was recently accepted to a private four year university and is happy to have her CASA advocate take her and help her move into her college dorm.
